John H. Fargo, DO, is an attending pediatrician in the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant at Lurie Children’s He specializes in caring for infants, children, and adolescent/young adults affected by hematologic conditions. While he manages patients affected by a range of benign hematologic disorders, his primary focus is caring for those affected by bleeding and clotting disorders.
In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Fargo is a Clinical Informaticist at Lurie Children’s where he enhances clinical decision support through the use of EMR tools for diagnostics and health condition management. John is an Associate Professor at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and has published and spoken nationally in the areas of hemostasis and thrombosis.
He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. He completed his pediatric residency and Chief Resident years at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. This was followed by a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Fargo enjoys staying active with his son, daughter, and wife and exploring the diverse culinary scene in Chicago.
Dr. Fargo sees patients at Lurie Children’s main location in Chicago and Lurie Children’s Outpatient Center in Arlington Heights.

Karen Sheehan, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Pediatrics, Medical Education, and Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She is the Medical Director of the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities, Associate Chair of Advocacy for the Department of Pediatrics, and the Medical Director of Lurie Children’s Injury Prevention & Research Center.
As a Northwestern University Medical Student, Dr. Sheehan was a founding volunteer of the Chicago Youth Programs (CYP), a community-based organization that works to improve the health and life opportunities of youth living in poverty. Her primary areas of research interest are injury and violence prevention and improving the health of vulnerable populations.
She see patients in the emergency room at Lurie Children’s main location in Chicago and Lurie Children’s at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital Pediatric Outpatient Center in Winfield, IL.
Raina Voss, MD, MPH

Raina Voss, MD, MPH, is an attending physician in the Lurie Children's Gender Development Program, which is housed within the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Lurie Children’s. She served as the medical director of the program from 2018 until October 2024. During her time in the program, she has worked to expand services to improve access to high quality care for youth in Chicagoland and beyond.
She is passionate about engaging primary care providers in the care of gender diverse youth. Dr. Voss has also conducted research focused on physical activity among transgender and gender diverse youth and has collaborated on research using PEDSnet children’s hospital data to better understand the prevalence of gender diversity and autism in pediatric care settings.
Dr. Voss provides a broad range of adolescent health services including gender affirming care, sexual and reproductive health care, and mental health care. Dr. Voss also practices in a primary care setting at the Erie Family Health Center’s Teen Center clinic.
Dr. Voss sees patients at Lurie Children’s Outpatient Services at 1440 N. Dayton in Lincoln Park.
