John H. Fargo, DO, is an attending pediatrician in the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant at Lurie Children’s He specializes in caring for infants, children, and adolescent/young adults affected by hematologic conditions. While he manages patients affected by a range of benign hematologic disorders, his primary focus is caring for those affected by bleeding and clotting disorders.

In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Fargo is a Clinical Informaticist at Lurie Children’s where he enhances clinical decision support through the use of EMR tools for diagnostics and health condition management. John is an Associate Professor at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and has published and spoken nationally in the areas of hemostasis and thrombosis.

He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. He completed his pediatric residency and Chief Resident years at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. This was followed by a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.

 Outside of his professional life, Dr. Fargo enjoys staying active with his son, daughter, and wife and exploring the diverse culinary scene in Chicago.

 Dr. Fargo sees patients at Lurie Children’s main location in Chicago and Lurie Children’s Outpatient Center in Arlington Heights.
