Rebecca Carl, MD, is an Attending Physician in Sports Medicine and non-Operative Orthopaedics at Lurie Children’s and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She is the Fellowship Director for the Northwestern McGaw Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship.
She received a BA at Cornell University, MD at the University of Illinois, Chicago College of Medicine, and an MSCI (masters in clinical investigation) at Northwestern University. She completed a pediatric residency at University of Wisconsin and fellowships in primary care sports medicine (Rush University) and non-operative orthopaedics (University of Wisconsin). She is the Chairperson-elect for the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Sports Medicine and Fitness. Her research interests include sports concussion, overuse injuries, and clubfoot.
Dr. Carl sees patients at Lurie Children’s Outpatient Centers in Northbrook, Westchester, Skokie and Lincoln Park (Clark/Deming).

Bonnie Essner, PhD is a pediatric psychologist at Lurie Children’s, Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and a member of the Neurointestinal and Motility Program in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.
She provides clinical consultation, assessment, and integrated treatment services to children and adolescents with gastrointestinal disorders, specializing in psychological evaluation and treatment of chronic pain, nausea, fatigue and health behavior promotion. Her research broadly includes development and evaluation of innovative digital health programs to promote well-being among youth with chronic health conditions and pediatric populations undergoing invasive procedures.
She is especially interested in the role of contemplative and mind-body practices, as well as positive psychological interventions, for youth and emerging adults with chronic health conditions, including novel implementation and delivery to enhance and extend services.
Dr. Essner is dedicated to expanding holistic care to patients with chronic abdominal pain and other gastrointestinal conditions.
Dr. Essner sees patients at the main hospital location and Lurie Children’s Outpatient Center in Skokie.

Ayelet Rosenthal, MD, MSc, is an attending physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Lurie Children’s, where she serves as the Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Dr. Rosenthal earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed a Master of Science in the department of Immunology and Cancer Research at The Hebrew University. She completed her pediatric residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, followed by a Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at Stanford University.
Prior to joining Lurie Children’s, Dr. Rosenthal was faculty at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University. Her professional focus includes the prevention of hospital-acquired conditions and healthcare-associated exposures, transmission of multidrug-resistant organisms, and the safe reduction of isolation duration. She has a particular interest in the care of immunocompromised children.

Dr. Sigrid Wolf is a pediatric sports medicine physician at Lurie Children's. Dr. Wolf earned her medical degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She completed her residency in general pediatrics at Seattle Children's Hospital and a fellowship in sports medicine at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center.
She is a team physician for De LaSalle Institute and a volunteer physician for USA Gymnastics. She has provided medical coverage for several marathons and other mass sporting events. Within the American Academy of Pediatrics, she serves on the Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness (COSMF) Executive Committee. She also serves on the publications committee of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. She is actively involved in research and teaching within the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and pediatrics residency.
Dr. Wolf sees her patients at the Lurie Children’s Outpatient Center in Lincoln Park and Lurie Children’s Outpatient Center in Skokie.
