Patrick Myers, MD, FAAP, is the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Director at Northwestern University. He graduated from the University of Waterloo before attending medical school at Rush University. He completed both pediatric residency and neonatology fellowship at the University of Chicago. Dr. Myers is the Past-Chair of the Organization of Neonatal Program Directors, serves on the Council of Pediatric Subspecialties Executive Committee and has served on committees for the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Board of Pediatrics and the ACGME.
Dr. Myers has a longstanding interest in the interactions between infants, families, and the medical team. He has also written on outcomes of moderate to late preterm infant. He is a founding member of the Northwestern Maternal Fetal Medicine and Neonatology committee on peri-viable births. Dr. Myers also focuses on creating national curricula and resources for the medical educators and trainees. He has written on a wide range of topics such as peri-viability, trainee assessment, scholarship during medical training and transitions into early faculty positions.

Michelle Macy, MD, MS, became the Director for the Mary Ann & J. Milburn Smith Child Health Outcomes, Research and Evaluation Center in 2020 and has served as the Scientific Director of Community, Population Health and Outcomes in Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute since 2021. She is a Professor of Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a federally funded physician scientist.
Dr. Macy received her undergraduate degree with a distinction of high honors from the University of Michigan, where she went on to Medical School, pediatric residency, and a combined fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Health Services Research. She received a Master’s in Health and Healthcare Research from the University of Michigan’s Rackham Graduate School and K23 career development award funding from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child Health and Human Development. After nearly a decade on faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan, Dr. Macy moved to Chicago in 2018.
Since joining the faculty at Lurie Children’s, Dr. Macy has expanded her unintentional injury prevention research portfolio from child passenger safety to include water safety and other leading causes of death in early childhood. She is committed to reducing injury inequities and meeting families where they are to promote safer choices. In addition, she is highly involved in value-based care, population health data analytics, and evaluation for Lurie Children’s Pediatric Partners and the All Hands Health Network.

Alanna Higgins Joyce, MD, MPH, is an attending pediatrician in the Division of Hospital-Based Medicine at Lurie Children’s, caring for hospitalized children and newborns. She is also Clerkship Director in Pediatrics where she oversees medical student programming and assessment. In this role Alanna works with faculty, staff, and administration across several institutions for the training of medical students in patient care settings. Alanna is an Associate Professor at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine; she has published and spoken nationally in the areas of medical education, faculty feedback, and curriculum development.
Alanna holds an MD and an MPH from Tulane University and completed residency training in Pediatrics at the former Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She has a Master of Science in Teaching and experience teaching middle-school science. Alanna earned her bachelor’s degree in cognitive science from Northwestern University. She is a mother of three boys and a lifelong ballet dancer.
