Danielle VanBeckum, MD, MS, is a third-year pediatric pulmonary medicine fellow at Lurie Children’s and will complete her training in July 2025. As a fellow, she has engaged in translational research with the High-Risk Asthma Clinic at Lurie Children’s with the goal of identifying non-invasive breath biomarkers to diagnose asthma and predict response to therapies. She has published and presented nationally and locally in the areas of disease biomarkers, post-prematurity lung disease, asthma, and chronic cough.
She will be joining the faculty in the Division of Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine at Lurie Children’s later this summer. As she enters her early career as a pulmonologist, she looks forward to collaborating with other divisions such as Rheumatology, Hematology-Oncology and Cardiology to create multidisciplinary clinics to serve children with lung disease associated with systemic disease processes.
Danielle earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed residency training at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. She completed a Master of Science degree in biology at Northern Michigan University and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in human biology and chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Danielle primarily cares for patients at Lurie Children’s main hospital location, but also consults at Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
